Opportunity to Request Public Hearing and Comment on Thurston County Maintenance Area State Implementation Plan Revision
Ecology is accepting comments and requests for a public hearing about the revised air quality plan (aka State Implementation Plan or SIP) for the Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater area (Thurston County Maintenance Area). While the area continues to meet the federal air quality standard for particulates, the plan must be updated. No new rules are needed or proposed. A hearing is tentatively scheduled for May 29. RS Titan LLC submitted a Notice of Construction application to Ecology on February 1, 2013. Titan has requested approval to make changes, including removal of failed technology 3-way diesel oxidation catalysts, at their datacenter located at 4949 Randolph Road NE in Moses Lake. Lake Whatcom water cleanup plan available for review
Ecology worked with the city of Bellingham and Whatcom County officials to update a 2008 report to include guidance and strategy to limit pollutants entering Lake Whatcom. The report recommends that in order to protect Lake Whatcom and the drinking water for 100,000 people the amount of pollutants entering the lake has to be substantially reduced. An oil seep is occurring at the RG Haley cleanup site along Bellingham's intertidal shoreline. The City of Bellingham has installed a boom and absorbent pads to catch the oil. Public Notice of Application for State Waste Discharge Permit (SWDP) ST0045530 for CPoW LPCA
Odessa Public Development Authority has submitted an application for an SWDP for its meat processing facility (CPoW Livestock Processors Cooperative Association LPCA) that discharges to the Odessa Wasteater Treatment Plant. Interested persons are invited to submit their name, address and comments regarding the permit. There will be a 30-day comment period on the application.
