Public Comment Period: Lakewood Proposed Removal of Reid's Automotive from the Hazardous Sites List
Ecology proposes to remove Reid’s Automotive from the Hazardous Sites List. The site, formerly Art’s Auto Doctors, was primarily operated as an auto repair facility since it was developed in 1975. Soil contamination was discovered in 2002. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected above MTCA standards. The North Omak Elementary School is located on former orchard land and was subjected to historical pesticide applications. Ecology staff tested the soil at the Site and found lead and arsenic contamination exceeding state cleanup levels. During the summer of 2006, Ecology staff managed a cleanup at the Site designed to reduce or eliminate the lead and arsenic contamination.
